According to the latest constitution of Nepal, there is no official language nor religion for this country. Hence, the constitution says "Every language spoken in the country of Nepal is an official language." Please change this. 27.34.67.209 (talk) 11:43, 8 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made. – macaddct1984 (talk | contribs) 00:59, 9 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Page preview

[edit]

There is a problem while previewing the page. Instead of showing the country's flag (like other articles) it shows the emblem of the country. This needs to be fixed asap. AimanAbir18plus (talk) 04:26, 8 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Update the Gini Coefficient of Nepal from 0.32 to 0.30 to fit new world bank data. Gakkar (talk) 15:13, 6 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Not done: it's not clear what changes you want to be made. Please mention the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. I can't find any statistic in the article listed as "0.32". Ultraodan (talk) 04:21, 7 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

The citizens of Nepal are known as Nepali or Nepalese. The Nepali are descendants of three major migrations from India, Tibet and North Burma, and the Chinese province of Yunnan via Assam. Among the earliest inhabitants were the Kirat of the eastern region, Newars of the Kathmandu Valley, aboriginal Tharus of the Terai plains and the Khas Pahari people of the far-western hills. Despite the migration of a significant section of the population to the Terai in recent years, the majority of Nepalese still live in the central highlands, and the northern mountains are sparsely populated.

Hi, I would like to know about the sources of words about the ethnic origin of the Nepali people. Orangeroses (talk) 18:17, 14 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Statement based on a flawed research?

[edit]

Hello, I would like to ask about the line "Nepal has consistently been ranked as the country with the lowest IQ in the world." under the Education tab. This statement has three citations, all of them basing their findings on the World Population Review, which in turn bases its findings on "The Intelligence of Nations" by Lynn and Baker. The findings in this book primarily comes from published surveys in Buckley et al., 2013; Christian et al., 2010; Jamison & Lockheed, 1985; Jamison & Moock, 1984. All of these research surveys were done in extremely rural areas around 30 years ago. Just the length of time already makes this result completely unusable, but assigning tests done in rural areas to the entire population is an undeniable case of sampling bias. In fact, in the published work, they mention that they did not add any urban samples because they did not have any.

To be honest, I do not really know if editing in Wikipedia can be done by pointing out fallacies in published research. However, even if no change is made, I would like to request the citations made for this statement ([276], [277], [278]), which are just sensationalised entertainment websites to the actual sources that also point out the controversies in this research: https://www.ulsterinstitute.org/ebook/THE%20INTELLIGENCE%20OF%20NATIONS%20-%20Richard%20Lynn,%20David%20Becker.pdf https://viewoniq.org/ https://worldpopulationreview.com/country-rankings/average-iq-by-country

Thank you! Clay003 (talk) 21:28, 8 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]

I've removed it. In addition to your points, and even if we should be writing about IQ, one of your linked sources directly says "The unweighted national IQ of Nepal is 42.79, which is very implausible", and quite. CMD (talk) 03:11, 9 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
